Warrent issued by ICT against Hasan Mahmud, Nowfel among 15 individuals

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant against 15 individuals, including former foreign minister Hasan Mahmud, education minister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Nowfel, in Chittagong's Wasim murder during the July uprising.

A three-member tribunal led by its chairman Justice Md Golam Mortuza Majumder issued this order following a prayer of the ICT chief prosecutor Mohammad Tajul Islam.

During a briefing Tajul Islam said, "Two petitions of production warrant and arrest warrant were submitted in the tribunal over Chittagong issue. Awami League, Jubo League and Chhatra Legue leaders and activists were involved in Chittagong genocide."

Wasim Akram, a student of Social Science of Chittagong College, was shot dead at about 3PM on July 16 last, in the port city's Muradpur area during a clash between the protesters and Chhatra League.
