Dhaka has been ranked the third most polluted city in the world as of Tuesday morning, with an AQI (Air Quality Index) score of 184 at 9:00 am.

This places the capital city in the "unhealthy" category, according to the AQI scale.
India's Delhi and Senegal’s Dakar topped the list with AQI scores of 299 and 225, respectively. An AQI between 151 and 200 is classified as 'unhealthy,' while scores between 201-300 fall under the 'very unhealthy' category, and 301-400 is considered 'hazardous,' which can cause severe health risks for residents.

The AQI measures the level of pollution in the air and its potential health impacts, taking into account pollutants such as particulate matter (PM10 and PM2.5), NO2, CO, SO2, and ozone.

Dhaka has been struggling with air pollution for years, with air quality often reaching unhealthy levels in the winter months. The situation typically improves during the monsoon season.
