Shakib Khan’s upcoming Eid-Ul-Fitr film, ''Borbad'', is facing hurdles as the Bangladesh Film Certification Board raised objections after reviewing the film on Monday.
According to filmmaker and board member Kazi Hayat, several cuts were recommended, particularly regarding the level of violence depicted in the film.
The filmmakers have been instructed to revise these parts, and if they resubmit the edited version, the certificate will likely be issued by Tuesday.
The news has sparked outrage among Shakib Khan's fans, who are expressing their discontent on social media. Some are even planning protests, including a siege of the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and a march to the Certification Board office in Ramna, demanding the film receive an uncut certification.
''Borbad'' features Shakib Khan alongside Idhika Paul, his co-star from ''Priyotoma'', and includes a strong supporting cast such as Fazlur Rahman Babu, Mamunur Rashid, Intekhab Dinar, Shahiduzzaman Selim, Misha Sawdagor, and Jisshu Sengupta. The film's teaser and songs have already generated excitement, and anticipation grew further after the Information Ministry approved its release on Sunday. However, the Certification Board's objections have caused renewed uncertainty over the film's Eid release.
In contrast, other Eid releases like ''Jongli'', starring Siam Ahmed and Bubly, and ''Daagi'', starring Afran Nisho, both received a 'Universal' (U) certification on March 24. Additionally, the horror film ''Jinn-3'' also secured its certification that day, and ''Chokkor 302'', starring Mosharraf Karim, has already been cleared for release.
