Senior Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Nasimul Gani, has dismissed speculations about the declaration of a state of emergency, calling them nothing more than gossip.

Speaking at a signing event on Monday, where Bangladesh and Australia formalized a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the return of illegal Bangladeshi migrants, Gani firmly stated that there is no discussion or possibility of an emergency declaration.
“I have no comments on this. These are just gossips. A few people are talking, but I have no comments on this matter,” he said in response to media queries.

The Senior Secretary reassured the public that the government remains vigilant in maintaining national stability. “Our officers are patrolling the streets at night, monitoring the situation closely. The police are on high alert, and we are committed to ensuring the stability we have remains intact,” he emphasized.

Regarding security preparations for Eid, Gani assured that strict security protocols would be maintained as in previous years. “We have not reduced vigilance even a bit. The ministry has a monitoring system where officers check every night how patrols are being conducted in Dhaka. We are fully alert,” he said.

He further added, “All security arrangements that are typically enforced during Eid will be implemented again this time, InshaAllah. We will remain vigilant to ensure nothing unpleasant happens.”

The Home Ministry’s reassurances come amid growing political rumors, reaffirming the government's commitment to maintaining law and order while dismissing claims of an emergency as unfounded speculation.
