National Nagorik Party (NCP) senior joint chief coordinator, Abdul Hannan Masud, has been assaulted allegedly by local Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists at Hatia upazila in Noakhali during a road meeting on Monday night.
The incident occurred around 8:00PM at Jahazmara Bazar in the upazila.
Following the incident, Masud, along with students and the public, staged a sit-in on the road, demanding the arrest of the accused attackers.
On Sunday (March 22), he met people from various walks of life in the Burirchar Union of the upazila. On Monday (March 24), he met people in different parts of the Jahazmara Union.
However, when he reached Jahazmara Bazar in the evening, alleged BNP activists attacked and obstructed his public outreach efforts.
In response, Abdul Hannan Masud, along with his associates, staged a sit-in on the road, demanding the arrest of the accused.
Md Yusuf Reza, coordinator of the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement in Hatia upazila, told, “BNP activists attacked Hannan Masud Bhai's peaceful public outreach, creating a tense atmosphere. Hannan Bhai is currently staging a sit-in on the road in the middle of the market. This protest will continue until the criminals are arrested.”
