The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and Tamim Iqbal's family on Monday requested the nation for continued prayers and blessings for the former captain's early recovery as he suffered a cardiac arrest this morning at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protisthan (BKSP) in Savar.

The incident happened during a Dhaka Premier League (DPL) match as Mohammedan Sporting Club, led by Tamim was competing against Shinepukur Cricket Club.

Tamim received immediate emergency medical treatment after being transferred to the nearby KPJ Specialized Hospital, where he underwent a successful angiogram procedure to address a blockage in one of the arteries of his heart.

He is currently under close observation at the hospital's coronary care unit, the BCB said in a press release, updating his latest condition.

BCB President Faruque Ahmed expressed his gratitude to the medical teams at BKSP and KPJ Specialized Hospital for their timely and expert intervention.

In a statement, he said: "We are very thankful to all the medics and specialists for their swift actions in this critical situation. The outpouring of concern for Tamim reflects how much he is loved and appreciated by the nation.

"The Chief Advisor's Office, The Ministry of Youth & Sports, and the National Sports Council have been in constant touch with us and are receiving regular updates on Tamim's condition.

"The BCB is closely monitoring his health and continues to remain in contact with the hospital's medical team. The board is committed to providing every support and assistance to ensure Tamim's swift recovery." "BSS
