Tamim Iqbal, the former Bangladesh cricket captain who recently suffered a heart attack, has regained consciousness and is now able to speak with his family.

The 35-year-old cricketer underwent a successful stent procedure at KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar after a blockage was detected in his heart.
According to Tariqul Islam, an official at Mohammedan Sporting Club, Tamim has been able to communicate with both his doctors and family members. Dr. Razeeb Hasan, the Medical Director of the hospital, confirmed that the procedure went smoothly, with the blockage completely cleared. However, he noted that Tamim's condition remains critical, and he will continue to be closely monitored for the time being.

Dr. Razeeb explained that Tamim was initially brought in after experiencing a heart attack. The medical team performed an angiogram, followed by angioplasty and the placement of a stent to address the issue. The procedure was carried out by renowned cardiologist Dr. Moniruzzaman Maruf.

Tamim had collapsed during a Dhaka Premier League match at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) grounds in Savar on Monday morning. After experiencing chest pain post-toss, he was treated on-site before being rushed to the hospital, where the heart blockage was identified. He is currently receiving care in the hospital's Cardiac Care Unit (CCU).

His wife, Ayesha Siddiqui, and his brother, Nafis Iqbal, have been by his side, offering support, while senior Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officials, including president Faruque Ahmed, have visited him at the hospital.
