Tamim Iqbal has been diagnosed with a heart blockage. A stent has been placed to restore blood flow.
He is currently under observation in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU) at KPJ Specialised Hospital in Savar.
"Tamim underwent an angiogram which detected a blockage in his heart. A stent has been placed, and he is currently being monitored in the CCU," Dhaka Premier League match referee Debabrata Pal informed the development on Monday afternoon.
Dr Debashish Chowdhury, chief physician of the Bangladesh Cricket Board, said, "Tamim suffered cardiac arrest for two times. Now condition is slightly better but not out of danger."
Tamim went to BKSP in Savar on Monday morning for Dhaka Premier Division Cricket League match between Mohammedan Sporting Club and Shinepukur Cricket Club. He took part in the toss but was unable to take the field as he complained of severe chest pain before the match started.
Initially, arrangements were made to airlift him to Dhaka by helicopter, but he could not be flown from the BKSP ground. He was later taken to the KPJ Hospital in Savar.
