Religious Affairs Adviser Dr. AFM Khalid Hossain on Sunday has stated that zakat is one of the best ways to alleviate poverty.

Highlighting the significance of providing zakat, the religious affairs adviser said, "By giving zakat, we not only obey the commandments of Allah but also receive His mercy. Zakat increases the flow of money in the market and creates employment opportunities. In addition, it brings smiles to the faces of the poor."
He made these remarks while addressing a seminar titled 'Role of Zakat in Poverty Alleviation' at the Baitul Mukarram Islamic Foundation (IF) auditorium in the capital.

The IF organized the seminar, presided over by its Director General A. Salam Khan.
