Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) officially launched its 'Workers’ Wing', with Mazharul Islam Fakir appointed as chief coordinator.
The announcement, which included the publication of the wing's coordinator committee list, took place at a press conference on Sunday afternoon, March 23, in the capital's Rupayan Tower at Banglamotor.
During the press conference, Aleya Khatun, joint coordinator of the NCP Workers Wing, highlighted ongoing struggles faced by workers: "Even after 54 years of independence, the country's working-class people are still deprived of fair wages, a safe working environment, and social security. In this reality, we are determined to work together to secure the rights and dignity of workers."
The newly formed coordinator committee includes ten joint coordinators: Mosharraf Hossain, Shah Alam, Al Amin, Md. Abu Abdullah, Touhidul Islam, Aleya Khatun (Office), Sajib Wafi, Syed Mohammad Sohorab, Abdul Barek, and Mamun Chaklader.
Several organising members were also named, including Sajib Islam, Lamia Islam, Md. Kamruzzaman, Md. Sarwar Kamal, and Md. Faruq Hossain, with additional committee members announced at the event. NCP's chief coordinator Nasiruddin Patwari was present alongside other party officials as Mazharul Islam Fakir revealed the complete committee structure.
The formation of this specialised wing represents the party's commitment to addressing labour issues and advocating for worker rights within Bangladesh's political landscape.
