CHUADANGA, Mar 23: A man was hacked to death by his son in the district town on Saturday evening.
The incident took place in Palash Para area of the town at around 6:30 pm.
The deceased was identified as Dadul Hossain Rintu, 51, son of late Kazi Afaj Uddin. He was an Italy expatriate.
Police and local sources said that the deceased's son Rifat, 17, was addicted to mobile phone game for long. On Saturday evening, his father took away the phone him.
Following this, Rifat got angry. Later on, he started hacking his father from behind with a sharp weapon while Dadul Hossain was performing Namaza, which left him critically injured.
With the help of locals, the family members then rescued Dadul Hossain and immediately took him to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital, where on-duty doctor Tarique Jubyer declared him dead.
Being informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The law enforcers, however, arrested the accused Rifat.
Officer-in-Charge of Chuadanga Sadar Police Station Khaledur Rahman confirmed the incident, adding that legal action would be taken in this regard.
