DMP Commissioner promoted to Rank of IGP

Sheikh Md. Sajjad Ali, the Commissioner of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been promoted to the rank of Inspector General of Police (IGP).

The promotion was issued in a notification by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Public Security Division on Sunday. The notification was signed by Deputy Secretary Mohammad Mahbubur Rahman.

According to the notification, in accordance with the application and judgment of Administrative Tribunal-1, DMP Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzat Ali, who was employed on a contractual basis, has been retrospectively promoted to the rank of Additional Inspector General of Police (Grade-2) from 18 January 2010, Additional Inspector General of Police (Grade-1) from 18 July 2013, Inspector General of Police (Self-Employed) from 30 December 2014, and Inspector General of Police (rank) from 12 January 2017

The notification also mentioned that he is entitled to all financial benefits, including outstanding salary, allowances, and pension as per his new rank.

Earlier, Sheikh Md. Sajjad Ali was appointed as the Commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police on November 24 of last year.
