The workers of Tannery Industry in Savar staged demonstration demanding implementation of minimum wage announced by the government on Sunday.

Several hundred workers, under the banner of Tannery Workers Union, led by its president Abul Kalam Azad, brought out a procession from the tannery and gathered in front of union office at around 11AM.

The leaders said that the government on November 21, 2024, declared wages for workers under five grades through the wage board but no initiative has been taken yet in this regard.

They also demanded their salaries and Eid bonus be paid before Eid-ul-Fitr.

The workers also threatened to go for tougher movement after Eid if their demand is not met.
