Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 40 smuggled cows in Feni on Saturday.
These cows were seized from Joyantinagar and Bakhtarhat in Chhagalnaiya upazila, Maheshpuskarni in Pashuram upazila, Debipur in Fulgazi upazila, and Sonapur of West Alinagar in Chattogram District.
Feni BGB Battalion-4 captain Lt Col Mohammad Mosharaf Hossain confirmed the seizures.
According to BGB sources, being tipped-off, a BGB team conducted regular and special anti-smuggling drives at the border areas of Feni.
The smugglers attempted to deceive law enforcement by using fake receipts or previously collected vouchers, claiming they had purchased the cows from local markets, BGB sources said.
However, the confiscated cows have been handed over at local customs office as the involved could not provide any valid documents.
The BGB officials further added that BGB's operations and intelligence activities will continue to maintain security at the border, prevent smuggling, and curb illegal infiltration.
