Embracing 'Laylatul Qadr', seeking forgiveness : Day 21

Ramadan Day 21 marks the beginning of the last ten nights, a period filled with immense blessings and opportunities for spiritual growth.

These final nights hold the powerful Night of Decree (Laylatul Qadr), making it a time to increase worship, seek forgiveness, and draw closer to Allah.

Ramadan holds immense spiritual significance for Muslims, as it is a time for deep reflection, increased worship, and seeking Allah's mercy and forgiveness. One of the most important nights during this blessed month is Laylatul Qadr, also known as the Night of Decree.

It is believed that the night is better than a thousand months, as mentioned in the Quran: "The Night of Decree is better than a thousand months" (Quran 97:3).

The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) emphasized the importance of increased worship during these nights, particularly during the last ten nights of Ramadan. As reported in Bukhari, "When the last ten nights of Ramadan begin, the Prophet (PBUH) would stay up at night, wake his family, and tighten his belt," indicating his commitment to engaging in more worship and urging his family to do the same.

A key aspect of the Ramadan experience is seeking Allah's forgiveness. The Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) shared the profound impact of worshipping during Laylatul Qadr, stating, "Whoever stands (in prayer) during Laylatul Qadr with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven" (Bukhari, Muslim).

This highlights the potential for a night of sincere devotion to erase a lifetime of sins, transforming the individual’s spiritual state.

A powerful supplication that captures the essence of seeking Allah’s forgiveness is: "Allahumma innaka ‘afuwwun tuhibbul ‘afwa fa’fu ‘anni" (O Allah, You are Most Forgiving, and You love forgiveness; so forgive me), as narrated in Tirmidhi. This prayer reflects the essence of Ramadan—seeking Allah’s mercy and striving for forgiveness in this blessed month.

Ultimately, Ramadan is a time to renew one's faith, engage in increased worship, and embrace the opportunity to be forgiven by the Most Merciful. The devotion shown during the last ten nights, especially during Laylatul Qadr, can lead to a profound transformation, allowing one to attain Allah’s mercy and blessings for a lifetime.
