Police have arrested constable Md Ryiad and five of his accomplices involved in the sale of a firearm looted from Chittagong Police Station on August 5, last year.
Police apprehended them from Patenga's Kathgor and Bakolia areas of the port city on Thursday (March 20).
The six other arrested individuals are Abdul Gani, Abu Bakr, Farhad Hossain, Mostafizur Rahman and Md Ishaque.
Police recovered a foreign-made pistol and seven rounds of bullets from their possessions.
Riyad worked at Chandpur district police. He is from Chittagong's Satkania.
They were produced before a court of Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate on Friday.
Mass people made vandalism, arson attack and looted arms at eight police station and police outposts on August 5, 2024, the day of the fall of Sheikh Hasina government. A total of 813 arms and 44,324 bullets were looted.
Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate Abu Bakr Siddique granted three-day remand for Abdul Gani and Farhad Hossain.
Constable Riyad, Abu Bakr and Mostafizur Rahman confessed to their involvement in the sale of the firearm looted from the police station. Ishaque was sent to jail as did not gave confessional statement.
