CHATTOGRAM, Mar 21: Muhammad Sharif Mahmud Apu, Deputy Regional Director (DRD) of Banglaesh Betar Chattogram centre has been detained by the Double Mooring Police for alleged cooperation against the activists of Anti-discrimination student Movement in July mass uprising.
According to Double Mooring Police, the members of Anti-discrimination Student movement apprehended DRD of Chattogram Betar at his office at Agrabad on Friday afternoon.
Receiving the information police went to the spot and brought Apu in Police station in the evening.
The Anti-discrimination Student movement alleged that curfew was imposed in Chattogram on August for a letter sent by him to stop the student movement.
Double Mooring Police said they would take action after a directive from district administration as he is a public servant.
Earlier, the Anti-Corruption Commission filed a case against Apu on February 25 last for earning illegal assets of Tk 58,99,997.
After investigation, it is alleged that Apu is involved with the illegal syndicate of former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Kamal.
