A political party 'Janatar Dal' formed with former military and government officials, NGO workers and leaders of various political parties, made its debut on Thursday.
The new party made its debut at the Krishibid Institute auditorium in Khamarbari in the capital with the slogan 'Insaf Zindabad'.
Brig Gen (Retd.) Shamim Kamal has been appointed as the chairman of the party.
The inauguration ceremony began at 3:30pm on Thursday with the recitation of the Quran.
At the inauguration ceremony leaders of the party paid tribute to the martyrs and the injured in the July-August uprising.
Freedom fighters, private university students and NGO representatives also spoke at the event.
Party Chairman Brig Gen (Retd) Md. Shamim Kamal said, 'Our political philosophy is Palestine."
"It does not take even two hours to create a leader in Palestine. We do not want to get involved in unnecessary arguments about historically settled issues,' he said.
Shamim said, "We only want to move forward with honest, brave, educated, patriotic and loyal people. If we have 10 people, we want to move forward with them."
Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) General Secretary Barrister Asaduzzaman Fuad, former minister Nazim Uddin Al Azad, former MP Siraj Uddin Ahmed, former politician Azam Khan, Maj Gen (Retd) Fazal Ibne Sharekhuzzaman, Lt Gen (Retd) Sabbir Ahmed, Maj Gen (Retd) Ismail Faruk Chowdhury, former student leader Mastuk Hasan Joy, among others, spoke on behalf of various political parties at the Janata Dal launching ceremony.
