The Police Headquarters issued a safety advisory on Thursday for passengers, transport owners, and drivers of buses, vessels-including launches, speedboats, and steamers-and trains to ensure the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations can be enjoyed safely with loved ones. The statement urged passengers, transport owners, and drivers to strictly adhere to the advisory.

In case of emergencies, individuals have been advised to contact the control rooms at the following numbers: Police Headquarters (01320001300, 01320001299), Highway Police Headquarters (01320182598), Railway Police Headquarters (01320177598), Naval Police Headquarters (01320169598), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) (01777720029), and the District Police Superintendent or Officer-in-Charge (OC) of the respective police station.

Passengers have been reminded to plan their Eid travel with sufficient time and to prioritise their own and their family's safety.

Drivers should not be pressured to speed, and passengers are urged to avoid risky behaviour such as travelling on bus roofs, or in trucks, pickups, or other goods-carrying vehicles.

Roads should be crossed using zebra crossings or footbridges where available, and in their absence, caution must be exercised to cross safely while observing the movement of vehicles.

The public has been encouraged to seek police assistance if necessary, refrain from reckless driving, and avoid accepting food or drinks from strangers.

Bus owners have been asked not to allow incompetent, amateur, tired, or ill drivers to operate passenger buses and cars. Drivers must be instructed to follow traffic rules and avoid risky overtaking, and unfit vehicles should not be put into operation.
