Dr Lyudmila Sarder, an internal medicine resident physician, has been honoured with the prestigious United States Congressional Recognition for her outstanding contributions to healthcare and community service in Central Florida, reports BSS.

She was among 10 distinguished community leaders recognised by US Congressman Darren Soto during a special Women’s History Month ceremony held in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, said a statement received on Thursday.

The honourees, representing healthcare, business, engineering, and military service, were acknowledged for their dedication to improving lives in their communities. Their names and achievements will now be permanently recorded in the United States Congressional Record, a historic recognition of their contributions.

“Your life stories are part of our shared American history,” Congressman Soto said during the award ceremony.

Dr Lyudmila serves as a resident physician at Lakeland Regional Health and has dedicated her career to enhancing healthcare access, particularly for underserved populations.

Through her work at HCA Florida Osceola Hospital, AdventHealth Cancer Institute, Winter Haven Hospital, and Lakeland Regional Health, she has gained national recognition for her contributions to medical research and patient care.

Her efforts in reducing financial barriers to cancer treatment have brought hope to countless families, helping shape a more equitable healthcare system, according to the statement.

She is also the co-author of the Amazon bestselling book, Intern Mastery: A Roadmap from Med School to PGY-1 Internal Medicine Excellence, a guide for medical students transitioning into residency.

Additionally, she is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP) and serves as a judge for ACP student presentations.

Dr Lyudmila said she is deeply honoured to receive the recognition from the United States Congress.

“This award is not just about me—it represents the dedication of so many who work tirelessly in public service. Women’s History Month reminds us of the strength, resilience, and impact of women throughout history. I am proud to stand among those making a difference today,” she said.
