1 killed in mob beating in Dhaka

A man was killed, and two others were injured in a brutal mob attack in the Swarighat area of Old Dhaka on Friday morning, following an alleged attempt to mug a local resident.

The incident occurred at around 5:20 am near Champatali Ghat when the three men, aged between 18 and 25, were suspected of attempting a mugging.

According to Sub-inspector Shoaib of Chawkbazar Police Station, a group of locals pursued the suspects and beat them severely, believing they had tried to rob someone.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the men in critical condition. The trio was immediately taken to the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital for treatment. Unfortunately, one of the men succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving at the hospital, while the other two remain under medical care, guarded by police officers.

The identities of the deceased and injured have not been disclosed as investigations continue.
