Significance of Ramadan: Day 20

The holy month of Ramadan is ongoing, and today marks the 20th day, which falls on a Friday. This day holds special importance as it is the last day of the phase of Maghfirah (forgiveness), offering the final opportunity for believers to seek divine mercy and absolution. It is a time for deep reflection, repentance, and prayer, as devout Muslims strive to purify their hearts and draw closer to Allah.

The significance of fasting on the 20th day of Ramadan is described as being equivalent to the reward of a martyr who has sacrificed their life in the path of Allah. This great virtue highlights the immense spiritual blessings associated with fasting and worship on this day.
A narration from Ibn Abbas (RA) states that Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) would recite a special supplication during the month of Ramadan. This supplication is recorded in the books Al-Baladul Amin and Misbahul Kaf'ami. The prayer serves as a means to seek Allah’s boundless mercy and grace.

The supplication is as follows:

Arabic:

اللهم افتح لي فيه أبواب الجنان، وأغلق عني فيه أبواب النيران، ووفقني فيه لتلاوة القرآن، يا منزل السكينة في قلوب المؤمنين.

Translation:

"O Allah, on this day, open for me the doors of Paradise and close for me the doors of Hellfire. Grant me the ability to recite the Holy Quran. O the One who bestows tranquility in the hearts of the believers, bless my heart with peace."

As the month of Ramadan progresses towards its final and most sacred phase, believers are encouraged to intensify their prayers, seek forgiveness, and engage in acts of charity. The 20th day serves as a reminder of the divine rewards and the mercy that Allah bestows upon those who turn to Him with sincerity and devotion.
