The former director-in-charge of Mohammedan Sporting Club Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan is made the member secretary of the four-member special committee formed to arrange and provide necessary assistance in important activities, arranging the next Annual General Meeting (AGM) and election-related matters of the club.
The committee is comprised of the club directors Mahbubul Anam as the chairman, Eng Kabir Ahmed Bhuiyan and Masuduzzaman as members and Lokman Hossain Bhuiyan as the member secretary. A letter signed by the club president and Former Army Chief General (retd) Abdul Mubeen confirmed the matter.
The letter also stated that the committee could increase the size of the committee if needed. The committee will do all the functions of the next general meeting and election of the club.
On the first of March, the current board of directors of the club decided to complete the electoral process within the next three months. Although the date has not been fixed, initially the 3rd or 10th of May were on their mind for the next AGM and election.
The last election of Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited, one of the prominent sporting clubs of Bangladesh, was held on the 6th of March in 2021. After years, now the decision is made to hold the next election in May.
The tenure of the Mohammedan's Board of Directors is two years. Previously, a decision was taken to arrange the election on or by 5 March 2023.
But two more years passed without happening that. As per the club's constitution, the country's traditional club is now in danger of falling into legal trouble. That is why the existing board of directors decided to arrange the election soon.
