Youth gets life-term for raping schoolgirl in Jashore

A court here on Thursday sentenced a young man to life imprisonment and fined Tk 50 thousand for raping a schoolgirl in August 18, 2020 at Avaynagar upazila in Jashore.

The convicted is Shamim Hasan alias Shamimul Islam, a resident of Bashuria village under the upazila.

Golam Kabir, judge of the Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal-1 handed down the verdict and also fined him Tk 50,000, in default, he will have to serve three months more in jail.
Public Prosecutor Abdul Latif confirmed the verdict.

According to the case statement, the convicted Shamim raped the victim on the pretext of sharing videos on that day.

Later, she informed her family members about the incident. However, the girl lodged a complaint with Avaynagar police station in this regard.
