The scheduled testimony in the case filed by businessman Nasir Uddin Mahmood against actress Pori Moni has been postponed.
On Thursday (March 20), Pori Moni’s lawyer, Nilanjana Rifat Suravi, filed a petition seeking more time and challenged the indictment order in Dhaka’s Senior Judicial Magistrate Court.
The court granted the request and set a new date for testimony.
The case was originally filed on July 6, 2022, by Nasir Uddin Mahmood, a director of Dhaka’s Savar Boat Club, accusing Pori Moni and two others of assault, vandalism, and intimidation.
On March 18, 2023, the Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) submitted its report, confirming allegations against Pori Moni and Junaid Bogdadi Jimi, while dismissing charges against Fatema Tuz Zannat Boni.
On January 26, 2025, the court framed charges against Pori Moni and Jimi, canceling her bail and issuing an arrest warrant. She later surrendered and secured bail the following day.
In a related case, Pori Moni had previously accused Nasir Uddin Mahmood and five others of attempted rape and murder at Dhaka Boat Club on June 8, 2021. The trial in that case is ongoing.
