At least five people including three of a family were killed and two others in a road accident in Pabna's Ishwardi upazila on Thursday afternoon.
The accident took place around 5:30 PM in front of Mallika Agro Food at Baharpur area in the upazila.
The deceased was identified as Rabbir Pramanik, 35, his wife Mukta Khatun, 25, his son 18-month-old Mostakim, residents of Baghoil village in the upazila, Ratul Islam, 30, of Ratidanga village in Jhenaidah district, and CNG drive Doha.
Confirming the matter, Ishwardi Police Station officer-in-charge Shahidul Islam said that a speedy bus crashed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on Ishwardi-Pabna Highway in the area, leaving one dead and four others injured on the spot.
Locals rescued the injured and took them to Ishwardi Upazila Health Complex. Four persons died on the way to the health complex.
Police seized the bus but its driver and his associate managed to flee the scene.
