Truck driver killed in Tangail road crash

A truck driver was killed and two others were injured in a head-on collision between two trucks in Tangail's Kalihati upazila on Thursday morning.

The accident took place around 7:00 AM at Hatia in the upazila.

The identities of the victims could not be known yet.

According to locals, a truck carrying rice was heading to North Bengal when it collided head-on with a Dhaka-bound truck loaded with potatoes, leaving the driver of the rice-loaded truck dead and two others injured on the spot.

Locals rescued the injured and took them to Tangail Medical College Hospital for treatment.

Being informed, a team of police recovered the body from the spot, said Jamuna Bridge East Police Station Sub-inspector (SI) Taherul Islam.

Legal process was underway in this connection, the OC added.
