Girl rescued 37 days after abduction in N'ganj

Police Bureau of Investigation (PBI) rescued a teenage girl from Pirojpur village of Sonargaon upazila in Narayanganj, after 37 days of her abduction.

The victim was identified as Iqra Moni, 16, a resident of Pirojpur village in the upazila.
A press release, signed by Narayanganj PBI Superintendent of Police M Mostafa Kamal Rashed BPM, was issued in this regard on Thursday afternoon.

According to press release, Iqra, a student of a Jainpur Talimul Quran Mahila Madrasa at Pirojpur union in the upazila, was abducted by a group of 4 to 5 people led by Shahin Mirza, son of Kudrat Ali Kurju of the same village, on a microbus from in front of the madrasah in the morning on February 10.

She had missing since then. After a chaotic search, the victim's father lodged a case with the police station under Women and Child Abuse Prevention Tribunal on March 13.

The court ordered the Narayanganj PBI to investigate the case. Later, a team of PBI conducted a drive led by police Inspector Abdul Baten and rescued the victim from Shahin Mirza's house in Pirojpur village. Police could not arrest Shahin Mirza as he went into hiding.

Narayanganj PBI Superintendent of Police M Mustafa Kamal Rashed BPM said that the victim was rescued and handed over to her family through the court. Efforts were ongoing to arrest those involved in the incident.
