Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested three Bangladeshis, including a child while attempting to infiltrate the India-Bangladesh border in Panchagarh district.
A team of BGB arrested them from Malkadanga border area at Boda Upazila in the district on Wednesday (March 19) at 9:45 PM.
The arrested individuals are Paritosh Kumar, 27, son of Sri Jagadish Chandra Roy from Boda upazila; his wife Radhika Rani, 24; and their 3-year-old daughter Vaishnavi Rani.
A press release issued by 56 BGB confirmed the matter on Thursday (March 20) morning.
According to the release, the three were arrested while attempting to illegally enter Bangladesh from India under the cover of night through the mountainous area near Border Pillar 774/4-R, around 50 yards inside Bangladesh.
During initial questioning, they revealed that they had entered India 2 months and 15 days ago through a broker network for work and had been staying in Siliguri. After finishing their work, they made an arrangement to return to Bangladesh with the help of the same broker network for a fee of Tk 20,000.
During their attempted re-entry, two members of the broker network managed to escape.
BCB also recovered two mobile phones, 2,300 Indian rupees, and 278 Bangladeshi Tk from the arrested individuals.
Nilphamari Battalion (56 BGB) Commander Lieutenant Colonel Sheikh Mohammad Badruzzouja said that the child was handed over to family through Boda Police Station following legal procedures.
The arrested couple has been hander over to Boda Police Station and efforts are underway to apprehend the two members of the broker network, added the BGB official.
