A robber was killed and two others were injured when their truck overturned on road after being chased by police in Naogaon.
The incident took place at around 4 am on Thursday (March 20) in Shibpur area of Naogaon town bypass road.
The identity of the dead robber has not been revealed. The two injured robbers are Rubel Hossain and Masud Rana.
The two robbers, Masud and Rubel, who were arrested in their injured condition, are being treated in police custody at Naogaon Sadar Hospital.
According to police, during an attempt to rob a house at Enayetpur village under Mahadebpur upazila, the villagers came out when the residents screamed. At that time, the robbers fled by a truck. On information, Mahadebpur Police and Naogaon Sadar Police set up barricades at six places including Naohata intersection and Abdul Jalil Park and chased the robbers.
When the robbers broke the barricades at those six places and fled, the truck carrying them overturned in Shibpur. Three robbers were seriously injured.
Three of the injured were rescued and one died on the way to Naogaon Sadar Hospital. A cow and two goats were recovered from the robbers' truck.
Naogaon Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Noor Alam Siddiqui said the process of taking legal action in this regard is underway.
