Army Chief meets CA, apprises him of overall security situation

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman paid a courtesy call on Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna in the capital on Wednesday.

"During the meeting, the Chief Adviser was apprised by the army chief of the country's overall security situation and the ongoing activities of the army," a release of the Directorate of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said Wednesday afternoon.

He also discussed various measures undertaken by the army to support national development and stability.

Gen Waker-uz-Zaman also informed the Chief Adviser about his recent visit to the Central African Republic. This visit would strengthen bilateral relations and military cooperation between the two countries, he hoped.

The army chief also discussed various steps taken by the army for the development and stability of the country.

He also provided updates on the recent high-level review and recommendations regarding the justice for previously deprived army officers.

The army chief also informed the Chief Adviser about the progress of the ongoing senior-level board evaluating the matters of dismissed Junior Commissioned Officers (JCOs) and other ranks.

The Chief Adviser was also apprised of Bangladesh Army's initiatives in providing medical treatment to students and civilians injured during the July-August mass uprising, the ISPR said.

The Chief Adviser praised the role and contribution of the army and provided the necessary directions to the army in the future activities.

He hoped that the army would continue to perform their duties with their professionalism and utmost devotion to ensure sovereignty and security of the country, the release added.
