JU suspends teacher over sexual harassment

The authorities of Jahangirnagar University on Thursday suspended a teacher from the university for his alleged involvement in sexual harassment.

The suspended, Saju Shaha, is an Assistant Professor of Marketing Department of the university.
Confirming the matter, JU Registrar and Syndicate Secretary ABM Azizur Rahman said that the decision was made during an emergency syndicate meeting chaired by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Kamrul Ahsan on Tuesday.

The decision was taken against Saju as the university’s anti-sexual harassment cell sent a letter to suspend him following a sexual harassment complaint was lodged against him.

The syndicate, as per the recommendation, decided to suspend him temporarily for the interest of fair investigation, he added.
