2 held for ‘trying to snatch’ arrestee in Barguna

Police on Wednesday arrested two people including president of Patharghata upazila Mohila Dal for allegedly trying to snatch an arrestee in Barguna.

The arrested were identified as Israt Jahan Shirin, 40, president of Patharghata upazila Mohila Dal and her daughter Sarzina Mim, 23.

Confirming the matter, Barguna Sadar Police Stationofficer-in-charge Dewan Jaglul Hasan said that legal action would be taken against anyone attempting to obstruct police work in the future.

A case was filed against the duo for obstructing police work, the OC added.

According to the case details and eyewitnesses, police arrested Md Sohan, an accused in a regular case, and brought him to the Barguna Sadar Police Station around 10 pm on Tuesday. Later, Shirin along with Mim tried to snatch the Sohan from the police station. Both were arrested for misbehaving with the police, added the OC.
