Farid Mia, member secretary and former municipal councilor of Gournadi Municipality BNP in Barisal, has been relieved from all party posts.
A press release, signed by BNP's Senior Joint Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi, was issued in this regard on Wednesday.
According to the press release, a show-cause notice was served to Farid Mia on March 16 following beating up a municipal employee, Gias Uddin Khandaker, at the Gournadi Municipality office. He was asked to reply the notice within 24 hours but he did not respond.
After receiving the show-cause notice, Farid Mia along with his cohorts took a signature on a white paper from Gias Uddin Khandaker forcefully.
He has been dismissed from all levels of positions, including primary membership of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), the release added.
On March 11, Farid Mia and his supporter entered the room Gias Uddin Khandaker and assaulted him using slang language during office hours.
Municipal employee and BNP activist Gias Uddin Khandaker alleged that Farid Mia and his associates assaulted him as he protested them not to take TCB goods using the influence of an influential BNP leader at the local central level.
