Indian media involved in anti-Bangladesh propaganda: BNP’s Farroque

BNP Chairperson’s Advisory Council member Zainul Abedin Farroque on Wednesday said though Bangladesh expects good neighbourly behaviour from India, their media are always involved in spreading propaganda against Bangladesh.

“As a good neighbour, we always expect good behaviour from our neighbouring country, India. But Indian media are always involved in anti-Bangladesh propaganda,” he said.
Farroque made the remarks after paying tributes to BNP founder late President Ziaur Rahman by placing wreaths at his grave in the city.

He along with the president of Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Sangskritik Dal Humayun Kabir Bepari and its other leaders paid homage on the occasion of its 17th founding anniversary.

The BNP leader said it was unfortunate that Indian media not only engaged in spreading propaganda but also in provocation and conspiracies.

Noting that an organised group is attempting to destabilise the country on different pleas, he said some issues are suddenly emerging to the fore, which are embarrassing for the current interim government. “These things seem like the acts of a fallen autocrat,” he added.

Farroque said there was an attempt to destabilise the situation following the minority issue.

Pointing at the Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus, the BNP leader said his party has been supporting him but some persons surrounding him are trying to mislead him.

He asked the chief adviser not to be misguided by the bad apples. “Remember, the main purpose of these conspiracies is to sabotage the election or create an anarchic situation and put you in danger.”

“It must be remembered that the main purpose of these conspiracies is to put you in danger by thwarting the election or creating an anarchic situation,” said Farroque.
