Woman killed in Gopalganj clash over land irrigation

A woman was killed and at least 14 others were injured in a clash between two groups in Gopalganj's Kashiani over irrigation of paddy fields.

The incident took place around 9 pm on Tuesday (March 18) at Tentulbari village of the upazila.

The dead Shila Begum, 35, wife of Kawsar Molla, was a resident of Tentulbari village in the upazila. The injured have been admitted to Gopalganj General Hospital.
Syed Emdadul Haque, Inspector of Ramdia Police Investigation Center in Kashiani, said that a dispute broke out between local farmer Shahid Molla and Kawsar Molla in the evening over irrigation of Boro paddy fields. Shahid Molla's people attacked Kawsar Molla's people around 9 pm. This led to a clash between the two sides. Fifteen people, including four women, were injured in the clash. They were taken to Gopalganj General Hospital where the on-duty doctor declared Shila Begum dead.
