3 killed as ambulance hits passenger van in Jashore

Three people, including a child, were killed and two others injured after an ambulance hit an engine-run passenger van in Jashore's Jhikargachha upazila on Wednesday morning.

The deceased were identified as Nazma Begum, 50, wife of Jeher Ali of Godkhali village; Bablu, 50, son of Jamal Sarder of Sayedpara village; and 12-year-old Ratna Khatun, daughter of Hasan Iqbal of Bamon Ali village.

Jhikargachha Police Station OC Bablu Rahman Khan said, "The ambulance driver fled the scene soon after the accident. Fire Service members later recovered the bodies. Highway police also visited the spot. Legal steps are under process."
The ambulance was heading towards Benapole from Jashore. When the vehicle reached Jashore-Benapole highway's Nabinagar around 6AM, it hit a passenger van, coming from opposite direction, leaving three dead on the scene and two others injured.

All the deceased were the passengers of the van.
