Qatar has expressed strong support for Bangladesh’s ongoing reform agenda under the Interim Government, Qatar Ambassador Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani said on Tuesday.
During a meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus at the State Guest House Jamuna, the envoy conveyed Qatar’s commitment to assisting Bangladesh in its development efforts.
"Qatar is eager to provide all sorts of support to Bangladesh," said Ambassador Al-Qahtani, reaffirming his country’s willingness to deepen bilateral cooperation.
Professor Yunus welcomed the gesture, thanking Qatar’s Emir for his continued friendship and support. He emphasized the importance of expanding trade and investment ties, encouraging Qatari businesses to explore opportunities in Bangladesh.
"Bangladesh is open for business. We invite Qatari entrepreneurs to invest and relocate their factories to our economic zones," the Chief Adviser said. He also announced that Dhaka will host an investment summit in early April to attract foreign investors.
In response, Ambassador Al-Qahtani expressed optimism about future engagements, stating that more Qatari investors are expected to visit Bangladesh soon.
Professor Yunus also briefed the ambassador on Bangladesh’s reform roadmap and the Consensus Commission’s ongoing dialogue with political parties to ensure stability and progress.
Additionally, the Chief Adviser confirmed his plans to visit Qatar next month to attend an international conference, further strengthening diplomatic and economic ties between the two nations.
