Govt to procure 2 cargos LNG, 1.10cr liters rice bran oil

The government approved separate proposals for procuring 2 cargos LNG, 1.10 crore liters of rice bran oil and 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice to meet the growing demand of the country.

The approval came from the 12th meeting of the Advisers Council Committee on Government Purchase in this year held at the Cabinet Division Conference Room at Bangladesh Secretariat on Tuesday with Finance Adviser Dr Salehuddin Ahmed in the chair.
Following two separate proposals from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through international quotation method from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, United Kingdom with around Taka 694.47 crore with per MMBtu LNG costing $14.48.

In response to another proposal from the Energy and Mineral Resources Division, Petrobangla would procure one cargo LNG from the spot market through international quotation method also from M/S Total Energies Gas and Power Ltd, the United Kingdom with around Taka 682.00 crore where per MMBtu LNG would cost $14.22.

Following two separate proposals from the Ministry of Commerce, the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) would procure 10,000 metric tons of lentil through local Open Tender Method (OTM) from M/S Modina Trading Corporation, Dhaka with around Taka 94.23 crore while per kg lentil costing Taka 94.23.

In another proposal, the TCB will purchase 1.10 crore liters of rice bran oil through local OTM method from Green Oil and Poultry Feed Industries, Dhaka, Majumder Products Ltd, Dhaka and Majumder Bran Oil Mills Ltd, Jessore with around Taka 178.75 crore with per liter oil costing Taka 162.50.

The Directorate General of Food under the Ministry of Food would procure some 50,000 metric tons of non-Basmati boiled rice from M/S Pattabhi Agro Foods Private Limited, India under international OTM method for the current fiscal year with per metric ton rice costing $429.55.

Besides, following two separate proposals from the Local Government Division, separate works under the Sayedabad Water Treatment Plant Construction Project, Phase-3 under Dhaka WASA have been awarded to China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co Ltd and HICC-SRC JV, Dhaka.
