The term of the Inquiry Commission investigating the enforced disappearances carried out by law enforcement agencies during the ousted Awami League government's rule has been extended till June 30.
A gazette notification was issued by the Cabinet Division on Monday (March 17). The extended period will be effective from March 15.
Now the commission gets another three and a half months to submit its report.
The five-strong commission, led by former High Court judge Moinul, was formed on August 27 by the interim government to investigate cases of enforced disappearances during the Awami League's 15-year rule.
On December 3, the commission's term was extended by three months until March 15.
The commission's responsibilities include investigating enforced disappearances carried out by law-enforcing agencies, security forces, intelligence agencies, investigative bodies and similar organisations with the support of the government.
