A young man was shot to death by miscreants in Jashore town on Monday night.
The incident took place around 11:15 am in Railgate area of the town.
The victim was Mir Samir Sakib Sadi, son of Mir Shawkat Ali of the area.
The victim's cousin Rakib said that he and Sadi returned home around 11:45 pm. While they were taking their motorcycle to the yard of the house, the miscreants stabbed Sadi from behind. Then they shot him. At that time, he threw bricks at the attackers, Tattoo Sumon, Mehedi and his 4/5 accomplices, who fired 5/6 more rounds and fled. Later, Sadi was taken to hospital where doctors declared him dead.
He also said that Sadi was the lessee of the railway market. The attackers used to extort money in the market area. The murder was committed because they were stopped from extorting money. The murder was committed because they were prevented from doing these, he added.
The victim's aunt said that the attackers tried to shoot her son a few days ago and killed Sadi today. She demanded the arrest of the killers and exemplary punishment.
Jashore Additional Superintendent of Police Noor-e-Alam Siddiqui said that on information, they visited the scene and several police teams have launched an operation to arrest those involved. However, he could not find out the reason for the murder.
