BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has claimed that his party is being subjected to a media trial similar to the one witnessed during the 1/11 political crisis, alleging that a coordinated effort is underway to tarnish the BNP’s image.

Speaking virtually at a pre-Iftar event in a Gulshan hotel, Tarique stated that the BNP is gaining overwhelming public support, making it a strong contender in the upcoming general election—if held freely and fairly.
"A deep-rooted conspiracy is unfolding against the BNP, nationalist forces, and Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty," he said. He accused a certain group of spreading fake news to malign the BNP, similar to the media trials orchestrated during the 1/11 period.

Tarique Rahman praised online activists for standing up in support of opposition leaders and activists amid these challenges.

The event was also attended by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, Standing Committee Member Salahuddin Ahmed, Tarique Rahman’s Adviser Dr. Mahadi Amin, and Joint Secretary General Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie, among others. BNP’s Publicity Secretary Sultan Salahuddin Tuku presided over the program, where a documentary on BNP’s 31-point reform agenda was screened.
