UPDF activist gunned down in Rangamati

RANGAMATI, Mar 17: A member of United People's Democratic Front (UPDF) was shot to death in Sadar Upazila of the district on Sunday.

The deceased was identified as Nirmol Khisa, 32, son of Bihari Khisa, a resident of Toi Chakma Village under Naniarchar Upazila in the district.

In a statement, UPDF's District Organizer Sachal Chakma said, "A group of six to seven armed criminals of JSS attacked the UPDF members at around 9 am on Sunday, leaving Nirmol dead on the spot."

Locals informed that after the shooting, the gang members went to Katachhori Shorgopur Bonvabna Centre.

Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Md Sahed Uddin confirmed the incident, adding that police recovered the body from the scene and legal action would be taken in this regard.
