Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called on police to remain vigilant against elements seeking to destabilize the country following the July uprising.
Speaking at a special meeting with senior police officials at his office on Monday, Prof. Yunus emphasized the importance of strict law enforcement to uphold stability. "Police must act within the framework of the law to ensure peace and security," he stated, adding that the next elected government must be one that firmly upholds the rule of law.
He urged law enforcement agencies to embrace technology, advocating for the introduction of online case filing systems to streamline operations.
Prof. Yunus highlighted the need to rank police activities to encourage healthy competition at the field level, ensuring greater efficiency in maintaining law and order.
"Bangladesh Police should seize this historic moment to help build a New Bangladesh," he said, urging them to take an active role in shaping the country's future.
Describing Bangladesh as a nation of immense potential, the Chief Adviser underscored the need to capitalize on new opportunities to place the country among the world's leading nations.
"We must leverage this moment to drive Bangladesh forward," he concluded.
The meeting was attended by Home Adviser Lt. Gen. (Retd.) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Baharul Alam.
Field-level police officers, including Chattogram Range DIG Ahsan Habib Palash and Rajshahi SP Farzana Islam, also addressed the gathering.
A total of 127 SP-level and senior officers participated in the special session.
