More than one hundred leaders and activists of Jatiya Party (JaPa), including Chandpur's Matlab upazila general secretary, have resigned seeking apology to the nation.

At a press briefing on Monday at a community centre in the upazila, they announced their resignation.
At first, Matlab upazila general secretary DM Alauddin signed the resignation letter. Later, other leaders and activists resigned one after another.

DM Alauddin said, " We resigned from Jatiya Party as it supported the fascist government. We are guilty for that. For this, we are resigning seeking apology."

"The upazila Jatiya Party has 151 members committee. Around 90 per cent of the leaders and activists have already left the party," he added.
