Authorities have shut at least 12 factories in Gazipur's Bhogra area following garment workers' protest for due wages.

At about 9:45AM on Monday, employees of Mim Garments started protest in Bhogra Bypass area, halting traffic movement on Dhaka-Mymensingh and Dhaka-Tangail highways.

Quoting the residents of the area, police said, the workers of Mim Garments took to the street in front of the factory in the morning for unpaid wages. At one stage of protest, they blocked Dhaka-Mymensingh highway. The protesters also threw brickbats to other nearby factories. They also tried to vandalise those.

Getting information, police went to the scene and dispersed them.

Fearing unrest, the authorities shut the 12 nearby factories.
