Metro rail staffers have resumed work after disciplinary action was taken against MRT police personnel over an assault.
Ticket sales of single journey resumed at 9:30AM on Monday after a two-and-a-half-hour of suspension.
Workers at the Mirpur-10 station were seen selling tickets.
Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) managing director Fazlul Haque said, 'A committee has been formed by the ministry to look into the matter. Those responsible for this incident will be punished. The MRT police have already taken action."
A machine operator said, "Our MD sir came. He said that action will be taken against those involved in the incident. That is why, we have resumed work."
DMTCL Managing Director Faruque Ahmed confirmed that metro operations were back to normal. "I visited every metro station this morning, and everything is running smoothly. While there were some technical issues, they have all been resolved."
Staff members of the metro rail alleged that some MRT police beat up some of their colleagues on Sunday and they announced a work abstention at an early hours.
From the morning, passengers took free on ride at some stations in the morning due to lack of staffers.
