An NGO worker was killed in a road accident at Bagher Bazar area of sadar upazila in Gazipur on Sunday afternoon.
The deceased, Suman Kumar Sutradhar,35, son of Sri Jiban Chandra Sutradhar, a resident of Haturia Beramara area in Pabna district, is a worker of Palli Mangal NGO.
Confirming the matter, Salna Highway Police Station Sub-Inspector Azizul Haque said that Suman Kumar was riding a motorcycle heading towards Mawna Chourasta in Sripur. When he reached the Bagher Bazar area on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway, a speedy truck ran over him, leaving him dead on the spot.
Being informed, a team of police recovered the body from the spot and sent it to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Legal action was underway in this regard, the SI added.
