15 ADSM, NCP men come under attack in Kushtia

At least 15 leaders and activists of Anti-Discrimination Student Movement and National Citizen Party (NCP) came under attack in Kushtia's sadar upazila on Sunday night.

The incident took place around 8:00 PM at the field of Kushtia Government College.
The injured were identified as NCP's Sultan Maruf Talha, ADSM Kushtia Government College convener Jahirul Islam Jahir, member secretary Redowan Afridi, Kushtia Polytechnic Institute convener Jubayer, Ibrahim, Nayan and others.

According to witnesses, a library named after Abrar Fahad was inaugurated recently in front of Kushtia Polytechnic Institute at Somoboy Market. The leaders and activists of ADSM and NCP assembled there everyday. A group of 15 to 16 people attacked them hurriedly with sticks and lethal weapons, leaving at least 15 people injured on the spot.

Locals later rescued the injured and took them to Kushtia General Hospital for treatment.

Kushtia ADSM convener Hasibur Rahman, its member secretary Mostafizur Rahman, joint convener Sayad Islam Sreshtha and Humaira Kabir Sadia rushed to spot just after receiving the news.

Being informed, a team of police rushed to the scene, said Kushtia Model Police Station officer-in-charge Abdul Alim.

Police were trying to arrest the accused involved in the incident, the OC said, adding that legal action would be taken against those found involved.

Kushtia ADSM spokesperson Parvez Mosharraf demanded immediate arrest of the accused involved in the incident.
