A Narayanganj court on Sunday sentenced three people to life term imprisonment for killing a mason in 2021.
The convicts are Mizanur Rahman, son of Ibrahim Ali, Ashraful Islam, son of Ibrahim Molla and Anisur Rahman, son of Abdul Hamid of Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district.
Narayanganj District and Special Judge Abu Shamim Azad passed the order against the convicts.
The court also fined them Tk 1 lakh each. They will have to serve more than two years rigorous imprisonment if they fail to pay the fine.
The court, however, sentenced them five years of imprisonment and fined Tk 5,000 in another section of the case.
According to the prosecution, Sabbir Rahman, a mason of Rupganj upazila, was strangled to death by his fellow workers while he was returning home on November 20, 2021.
Later, a case was filed and police submitted charge-sheet against them.
